About Us

Lakeside Academy is a tuition-free public charter school founded in 1998 with an opening enrollment of 30 students. Today, the non-sectarian school has a student population of 110 distributed in grades K-6 and serving the communities of Belle Glade, Pahokee, and South Bay. All students are eligible for free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Lakeside Academy is open to children of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, religion, or gender.

It is the intention of the school to reflect the makeup of the community it serves. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis, although students enrolled the previous year will be allowed to re-enroll as long as they are in good standing with the school.

Lakeside Academy has a networked CompLab where students are immersed in a multi-sensory reading program stressing improvement of auditory, visual, and perceptual levels. Classrooms are equipped with computers to expose the students to technology in a classroom setting; software is provided to help students progress at their own pace and perceptual levels.

In order to ensure greater parental participation, all parents and guardians are asked to sign a document agreeing to participate in a schedule of volunteer activities over the course of the school year. Students, parents and guardians must agree to abide by the rules and regulations as stated in the Student Code of Conduct.
